Who Are We?
At N° Juan, we are passionate about sharing the true flavours of Argentina with South Africa. Founded by Juan Andres Vais, we are the proud retail brand of African Gaucho, our Mother Catering Company. African Gaucho represents the fusion of Argentina and Africa. “African” because I live in Africa and “Gaucho” because I’m Argentinian. After 22 years here, I still identify as Argentinian but have embraced my life in Africa – hence the perfect combination. N° Juan’s journey started with a simple idea – to create a place where Argentinians could enjoy the comforting flavours of home while living abroad. And we wanted to share that same delicious experience with South Africans, giving everyone a chance to indulge in authentic Argentinian food without leaving Cape Town.
Our Story
Our offerings are crafted with love, inspired by my grandmother’s ancient recipe book, blending the flavours of old Argentina with the modern twists of Cape Town. Every dish at N° Juan carries the essence of Argentina, from our iconic Chimichurri Sauce to our melt-in-your-mouth Alfajores. We wanted to create something truly special, so we couldn’t call it anything else but N° Juan. As the first Chimichurri producers in Africa, we take immense pride in our homemade, 100% locally produced sauce. It’s gluten-free, vegan and free from preservatives, staying true to our roots while being perfect for the modern-day foodie.
